Her birth date was March 29, 1985, in Roswell New Mexico. Gerina Michelle was her birth name. Gerina Stevenson is the daughter of Mexican parents Rita Stevenson and Alan Stevenson. She is American and is of Mexican American heritage. Ever since she was young, she's been very keen on playing sports. Gerina began playing golf after she was 15 years old. Gerina was a student at Goddard High School. In high school she won the state championship golf tournament in New Mexico. In addition to the sport of volleyball, she played on the state level. Her first college was the University of Texas. Through the latter seasons of her professional career, she had won every tournament where she played. During the undergraduate seasons, she won Conference USA's individual player of season and UTEP's Female Athletic of Year.
